Online Demo For JSD / JADV Digital Video
Recorders
One of the many benefits of owning
one of our digital
video recorders (DVR) is the ability to connect to it over the internet. The COVISEC JSD- and JADV-series of DVR's allows you to connect to the DVR's via the
internet to view current footage, or to review past footage. COVISEC's
series of digital video recorders allows you to connect to the system 3
different ways:
-
Using the software that is on the CD that
was included with the DVR
-
Using Internet Explorer via the web
interface
-
Using the CMS software that can be
downloaded from our web site
This web page is designed to walk you through
connecting to our own in-house DVR, allowing you to see for yourself the
capabilities of our DVR's. How would you like to connect to our DVR?

Connecting Via Internet Explorer
Important Note: The web
client for the JSD and JADV series of DVR's requires Internet Explorer. It
may not work correctly on Firefox, Opera, AOL, or any other web browsers that
you may have installed.
-
Go to the following web site:
http://j2kip.com/webclient/
-
When you go to this web site, you may be
prompted to download and install an ActiveX control. If you are
prompted, you should let Internet Explorer install the control.
-
Once the web site has loaded, and the
ActiveX control has been installed correctly, you should see something that
looks like this:
-
On the top right, you will see 4 text boxes labeled IP, PORT, ID, and
PW. Set these boxes up as follows:
-
Once you have this set up correctly, click the
button
-
You should now be able to see our in-house security cameras in your
internet explorer window.
PTZ Functionality
Another advantage of owning a DVR, is the ability to control PTZ
(Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras. PTZ cameras allow you to move them up, down,
left, right, zoom in, and zoom out. We have such a camera set up for you
to demonstrate the capability and ease of use of our DVR's. If you would
like to try our PTZ camera, follow these instructions:
-
In order to adjust the PTZ camera, you have to be viewing camera 1 full
screen. To do this, click the
button on the bottom left corner and ensure that the number 1 button to the
right of that is darker than the rest.
-
Once you are viewing camera 1 full screen, change your options on the
bottom right to match what I have here:
-
Set up your PTZ, Baudrates, and CH options to
be the same as above. You should then be able to use the arrow buttons to
move the camera any direction you'd like. you can also zoom in and out,
change the focus, or adjust the iris.
Network Speed
The JSD and JADV series of DVR's also allows
you to adjust your network speed. The network speed is a number from 1-10
that the user can change on-the-fly. A lower number generates much sharper
video quality, but the video may not be as smooth. A larger number creates
much smoother, real-time video but does so at the cost of video image quality.
** Please
remember to log off of the DVR when you are finished, as only a limited number
of people can be connected at a given time! **
Connect Using Remote Viewer Software
The JSD/JADV series of digital
video recorders (DVR's) include a CD when you purchase them that you can install
on your computer to view your DVR online. Using the software that comes
with the DVR, you can not only view live footage, you can also review past
footage. If you lose or damage the CD, you can also download the software
from our download section by
clicking
here. Here are the steps to follow if you'd like to use this version
of the software:
- Download the software by going
here
and clicking the link that says "Standard Remote Viewer".
When you click that link, it should give you the following options: Run,
Save, and Cancel. Click Run.
- Once the download is complete, it should automatically begin the
installation process. Just accept all of the default settings and
continue clicking 'Next' or 'Finish' until the installation is complete.
- You will know that installation is complete because the installation
program will close and you should have an icon that looks like this:

- Double click that icon and the remote client software will open, and you
will see a screen like the one below:

-
Before you can connect to the
DVR, you have to set it up and give the program all of the DVR's
information. To do this, click the Setting button on the right-hand
side of the application, and you should see this window pop up:

-
On the RemoteViewer Setup
window, change the "ADDRESS" box to read 70.165.29.165, click the Save
button, then click OK.
-
After you click OK, the
RemoteViewer Setup window will close. Then click the Connect button on
the bottom left.
-
Once you click the Connect
button, it should connect to the DVR in our showroom and some of the blue
boxes will be replaced with live images from our showroom cameras.
Once connected, you can double-click on any camera to blow it up to full
screen or click on any of the view modes on the bottom center to show a
split screen.
** Please
remember to log off of the DVR when you are finished, as only a limited number
of people can be connected at a given time! **
Connect Using The CMS Software
The CMS (Central Monitoring
System) software is designed for customers that have multiple JSD/JADV DVR's.
A good example would be if you own multiple stores and had a DVR at each
location. The CMS store allows you to connect to all of your systems, and
pick and choose which cameras from each system you'd like to view. Here is
how you can connect to our in-store system using the CMS software:
- Download the CMS software by the software
by going
here
and clicking the link that says "CMS (Central Monitoring System)
Software".
When you click that link, it should give you the following options: Run,
Save, and Cancel. Click Run.
- Once the download is complete, it should
automatically begin the installation process. Just accept all of the
default settings and continue clicking 'Next' or 'Finish' until the
installation is complete.
- You will know that installation is
complete because the installation program will close and you should have
an icon on your desktop that looks like this:

- Double-click that icon and the CMS
software will open and show you a login screen like the one below:

-
The ID and the Password for
this is admin.
-
Once you are logged in, click
the Setup icon on the top that looks like this:
-
On the setup screen that pops
up, click on 'Site Setup' on the left hand side, then click the button on
the right labeled 'Registering Site'. That will give you a window that
looks like this:

- To connect to our in-house DVR, enter the
following information then click OK
- Site Name: This can be whatever you
want, it is just a descriptive name for the DVR.
- Address: 70.165.29.165
- Port Number: 50000
- User ID: admin
- Password: <leave blank>
- If you would like to test the CMS
software's ability to connect to multiple DVR's, repeat the last step,
giving this one a different name and change the port number to 50001.
- When you click OK, then click OK on the
main setup window, you will be back at the main screen, and should have at
least one DVR name on the left side, like this:

- Once at this screen, right click on the
name of your DVR (in my case, it would be COVISEC 1) on the left hand side,
and click 'Connect'.
- If everything is set up correctly, the
icon next to the DVR name should change, and you will have a plus sign next
to it. If you click the plus sign, it will show a list of cameras as
shown here:

-
In order to view the cameras,
click and drag one of the cameras from the list on the left into one of the
black DVR boxes on the right, and that camera should appear in that box.
If you set up both of the DVR's, you can right-click and connect to the
second DVR and drag some of those cameras into the split screen on the right
as well.
The CMS software allows you to
view up to 36 cameras at one time. You can choose exactly which cameras
you would like to view from each DVR. If you would like to view cameras 1,
2, 4, and 5 from your first DVR, and cameras 5, 6, 7, and 8 from your second DVR,
it's as easy as connecting to the DVR's and dragging them into the boxes.
The CMS software also allows you to organize your cameras into groups so that
you can connect to a group of cameras at once. This software will work
with any of the JSD or JADV series of DVR's, and is absolutely free.
