16 CH DVR can accept analog, hybrid or other types of cameras. In some cases, a 16 CH XVR can accept several types of cemares at the same time. The main difference between a 16CH DVR and a 16 CH NVR is the fact that one accepts analog cameras (the DVR) and the other accepts mostly network cameras (the NVR).
